A passion for hops and a true respect for traditional beer 

Etxeko Bob’s Beer (“Bob’s homemade beer” in Anglo-Basque) is a small craft brewery located in Hasparren, in the heart of the Basque Country, created by the Englishman, Basque by adoption, Bob Worboys.
Today he is supported by four equally passionate Bobs, most of whom are Basque-French.

For twelve years now, the Bobs have been making a range of characterful beers using the best natural ingredients and long and careful brewing processes. In accordance with the ancient laws of purity dating back to the Middle Ages, the Bobs’ beers contain only GMO-free (genetically modified organism) barley and wheat malts, hops, yeast and the real spring water of Hasparren: Ursuya.

Etxeko Bob’s Beer is today composed of a range of ten beers, each with its own strong identity and characteristics, and a design inspired by the 30s.

The Brewery opens its doors all year long to visit the distillery and discover the art of traditional brewing. On request, you can also enjoy a tasting session.

AOC Irouléguy : quality wines

The picturesque vineyards of Irouléguy, one of the smallest in France and the only one in the French Basque Country, are located in the southwestern part of France in the heart of the Basque Country.
The appellation covers 232 hectares of vines planted in 12 communes around Saint Etienne de Baigorry and Saint Jean Pied de Port. It is exploited by about fifty wine growers, and produces an average of one million bottles per year.

The Cave d’Irouleguy produces its wine recognized AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) in 1970. The objective of this cellar is to produce a wine of character in a cooperative spirit and in the respect of traditions.

Unavoidable in the gastronomic heritage of the Basque Country, the wine of Irouleguy holds the second place after the ham of Bayonne and the cheese of ewe. The grapes are available in 3 wines: red, white and rosé.

A little history on this famous Basque wine:

It all started in 1952, when nine winegrowers from the Basque Country, joined together to create a cooperative whose goal was to rebuild a vineyard destroyed by phylloxera
(A kind of aphid that ravages the vine) as well as by the passage of the First World War.  Today the Cave d’Irouléguy has 42 cooperators in AOC Irouléguy, and has the will to perpetuate the notoriety of this piece of land of the Basque Country and to emphasize its product of predilection, the wine

In order to improve viticultural techniques, the Irouléguy winery has been carrying out a study on the impact of the climate on plant growth for two years.
Thanks to its innovations, the winery is very involved in the preservation of the ecosystem.
All the members of the cooperative wish to keep a healthy and preserved environment which will allow the young generations to work in the best conditions.
At the same time, the winery invests heavily in high-performance equipment to guarantee the perfect quality of its products.

Among the typical drinks of the Basque Country, Kupela revisits the cider

A l’origine de cette marque de cidre basque, deux jeunes entrepreneurs passionnés, Xalbat Seosse Oxarango et Batien Dufau.
Ils se sont donnés pour mission de faire redécouvrir cette boisson ancestrale et se sont lancée dans sa fabrication avec l’aide du maître cidrier d’Astigarraga (Pays Basque espagnol), Agustín Etxeberria.

Tout en préservant des savoir-faire ancestraux, avec une volonté d’innover, les boissons sont issues d’un subtil mélange de tradition et d’une touche de modernité, élaborées à base de pommes de variétés locales.

Le nom et le logo de cette dernière ont été inspiré par
les embarcations des chasseurs de baleines qui stockaient leur cidre dans
des barriques appelées » Kupela » en basque

Sans additif et peu alcoolisé, le cidre Kupela est la boisson festive et saine par excellence. C’est grâce à une fermentation lente et naturelle du moût de pomme dans le Kupela que le maître cidrier donne naissance à une boisson fraîche et fruité aux saveurs intenses tout en gardant la légère acidité de la pomme.
Kupela propose également un jus de pomme artisanal 100% naturel élaboré avec des pommes Anixa, variété la plus appréciée et utilisée au Pays Basque. Après leurs récoltes, elles sont minutieusement triées, broyées et pressées pour en extraire le jus. Son dépôt naturel donne à ce jus des saveurs et arôme de pommes fraichement pressées.
